How It Works
From fax to authorization in four steps
Coral reads your incoming referral faxes, extracts the clinical fields an authorization requires, and hands your coordinator a pre-filled form to review and submit. No retyping. No hunting through pages.
The process
Four steps, start to finish
Fax arrives in Coral inbox
Referrals land in your clinic's dedicated Coral inbox via virtual fax number or SFTP forwarding. Coral queues each document automatically the moment it arrives.
AI reads and extracts clinical fields
Coral identifies nine fields every authorization needs: patient demographics, diagnosis codes, referring NPI, requested item or medication, insurance details, and payer ID. Each field gets a confidence rating.
Coordinator reviews pre-filled form
Your intake coordinator opens a structured view with every field already populated. They confirm, adjust any flagged values, and approve in under two minutes rather than thirty.
Authorization filed and tracked
Coral submits the authorization request and monitors status. Approvals, denials, and pend notices surface in your dashboard without requiring a follow-up phone call to the payer.
Field extraction
Nine fields extracted from every referral
A prior authorization requires specific structured information that is buried inside an unstructured fax document. Coral finds all nine fields automatically. The confidence indicator tells your coordinator exactly where to look if a field needs human confirmation.
Integration
Fits into how your clinic already works
Coral connects to your existing fax line via SFTP forwarding, an API endpoint, or a dedicated virtual fax number. There is no EHR integration required. No software replacement. No IT project. Your coordinator keeps using the same practice management tools they use today. Coral sits between the fax and the auth form, handling the extraction work.
